Regaining Respect Abroad
With a new US President about to be elected, the whole world is watching in anticipation. What many of us forget or don’t know is how important regaining respect abroad is. We cannot stand alone in the world and must regain the trust and respect America has always stood for if we are to regain the title world leader. Our example of greed and profit over honesty and integrity has made us suspect to the rest of a world that we have preached to for so many years.
This country is so much better than the crooks that run it now and we have a chance to prove it. As a country we can change history with our vote. So much of the world’s economy is tied to our own and how we act to resolve the current economic crises will have profound effects worldwide. That’s why it is important to get out and vote not just for a new President but all of the politicos that are up for reelections. If we don’t clean house now it may be too late.
In Europe earlier this year I was surprised to find the average Europeans knew more about our politics than the average American and were much more animated on the subject than most Americans I know. We have to stand up as a nation and become involved in our politics if we are ever going to change the pattern of greed and dishonesty that is US politics. I am tired of being yanked around every four to eight years by someone’s “new vision” of America.
There is only one vision and one direction America should have as stated in our constitution. Getting back to our roots and what we were founded on might be the “new direction” we should be going for. Wishful thinking probably, but with a lot more new Americans now voting we may be surprised. I hope so. Remember when our constitution was written it was done so by new Americans who were looking for a better life.
